Final Magazine Drafts

FRONT COVER
For my front cover, I have decided to use two out of the three members of the band as I found three to be overcrowded and left little room for any cover lines. I decided to change the colour scheme to white, red and black as I found that the pastel red stands out a lot more on the white background and also over the clothes of both models. On reflection, I think I have left too much neutral space in some areas such as the bottom left and right of the page which makes the magazine seem incomplete and unprofessional and I wish to change this in my final version. I am still undecided on whether I should use a plain white background or a city or rural backdrop yet but I think the plain background works well. Overall, I am relatively happy with how my front cover has turned out but I still think that it can be improved drastically.

CONTENTS PAGE
With my contents page, I wanted to continue the theme of simplicity and minimalism to a certain extent but still portraying all the necessary information needed on a contents page. I really like the way my contents page turned out and is my favourite page out of the three. The simplistic nature of it works well and in my opinion looks relatively professional. I have continued the white, red and black colour scheme and that works well also with both the red and black text standing out on the white background and being very easy to read. I dont think many improvements need to be made to this for the final version but I

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
I opted for the conventional half text and half picture for this double page spread and I think it worked well as a whole A3 page of text could appear daunting to the reader and the image can draw people into the article and get them interested. I like the different sized and coloured fonts for the main quote as this is quite unique but is also effective as it will attract the readers eye and draw them into reading the article. I think there needs to be more emphasis on the name of the band on this double page spread as on first glance you could not tell who they were so the name of the band needs to be incorporated more. With a few more minor improvements, this could be a fairly decent end result.

  1. The front page could use more detail and have more ambience about it, theres a good clarity to the photos on all three pages and the consistent colour scheme works well, the contents has a simple layout and looks like something a already established and professional magazine would publish. The double paged spread is full of content yet looks simplistic and works well, the photo is well detailed and not too abrasive or passive, the general lay out of the double paged spread has a refined feel about it.
