First Front Cover Draft

For this draft, I have chosen a blue, white and black colour scheme and a black and white image. I feel this front cover is quite simplistic with little cover lines and a lot of neutral space such as to the right of the artist's head which gives a minimalistic feel to the front cover. The image I have used is not one of my own as I have not yet been able to take any test shots however I like the style and feel of this image. I am not completely happy with this front cover and it is only a draft, I want to improve this drastically, if not completely change this, for my final version. For my final version, I would obviously substitute the images and all text related to Foals, a pre-existing band that fits my chosen genre, to images and text relating to the band I will create.

• Vocals and Guitar- lead man, energetic, lively and confident on stage (similar to Yannis Philippakis from Foals, Thom Yorke from Radiohead and Justin Young from The Vaccines)
• Synthesiser and secondary vocals- more confined on stage behind synthesiser, dances and hypes up the crowd (similar to Jamie XX from The XX and Howard Lawrence from Disclosure) 
• Bass guitar- energetic and lively on stage (similar to Rupert Jarvis from the Maccabees and Kevin Baird from Two Door Cinema Club)

Front Cover: Either 2 or 3 of the band members depending on how overcrowded it looks as I want to keep the cover clean and simplistic. All members will be wearing clothes that fit my chosen genre of Indie/Alternative so will be dressed in a vintage style of clothing such as tight fitting jeans, casual button up shirts and canvas/leather shoes. I want the band to be perceived as lively so the pose the band members will perform will reflect this. 

Double Page Spread: All of the 3 band members shown in two pictures, one large picture covering half of the double page spread and one smaller picture incorporated within the text. I want to make sure that in these shots, each members whole body can be seen so the audience can view the band's outfit's as this will show the audience how modern and current the band are through their clothes which will be appealing the target audience as the band will dress similar to the audience so they will be able to easily relate to the band. 

Artists from the Indie/Alternative Genre

I have created a mood-board of bands that fit into the genre of magazine which is the indie/alternative genre. These bands are examples of how the artists featured in my magazine will appear, sound and act. The bands featured are The Drums, The Smiths, Friendly Fires, Foals, Two Door Cinema Club and The Maccabees.
